We gather. We encounter God’s word. We share a meal at the Lord’s table. And we are sent into the world. But we do not think about worship so much in terms of what we do. Worship is fundamentally about what God is doing and our response to God’s action. Worship is an encounter with God, who saves us through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

CONNECT and Sunday School | We are excited about the start of another great year of CONNECT (5th & 6th graders) and Sunday School (preK thru 4th). Registrations have been made and are ready for you to sign your child(ren) up (see links below)! Important dates to keep in mind are: September 15th is Rally Sunday and Meet the Teacher September 22nd is the first day of Sunday School. Sunday School and CONNECT will look a little different this year, since there is only a 9:00 church service. They will both begin around 10:05 (or shortly after church service lets out) and will end at approximately 10:50. |
Service Sundays Starting Again | The first Sunday of each month will be a service Sunday. On these days, there is no class time, but all families and households are encouraged and invited to participate in our service projects during fellowship time. This is a wonderful opportunity once a month to engage in community as a church family together in ministry. |
Meet Levi Livingood |
I am excited to begin my new role as Music Director here at Faith. For those who may not know me, I have been a member at Faith since moving to Dodge Center in 2008. Over the years I occasionally substituted for Nadine here at Faith, and was a substitute organist at many area churches, most recently having had a position at St Peter's Episcopal Church in Kasson. I began playing for church services when I was in 5th grade, primarily accompanying our
youth choir and playing piano for hymns. In high school I started playing organ for my home congregation in Postville, IA and almost 30 years later here we are. In my spare time I am also
an owner of Home Improvement Professionals in Byron, and can occasionally be seen on stage or playing for a
show with the Mantorville Theater Company or other local community theaters. My wife Katie, sons Owen (7) and Caleb (4), and I live just outside of Dodge Center. Katie has a business (Illuminated Equestrian - check her out on Facebook or Instagram!) and does horse training and riding lessons. Owen will be starting 2nd grade at Triton, and Caleb will be in preschool. If you haven't heard me mention it yet, we have started the choir back up and we would love to have you join us! No experience necessary! We will be meeting Wednesday evenings at 6:30, and our first time singing will be at the September 15th service. One final note - we will begin adding in some liturgy to our worship services in September. We will use the familiar Setting 8 in the ELW, played on the keyboard. You may remember it best as the "Kyrie Eleison, on our world and on our way" and "Glory to God in the Highest, the highest, and peace to his people on earth". Personally, I have thought setting 8 is great at bringing together the traditional liturgical words and worship with a contemporary musical style and message. Who would have thought singing some Latin words could be uplifting?! I look forward to my time with you as Music Director, and please feel free to let me know if you have any favorite hymns or praise songs we may haven't sung in a while, we'll make sure to discuss them at our hymn selection meetings and hopefully get them added sooner rather than later. Levi Psalm 98:4 - "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: Make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise!" |
